Adrienne Abrahamson
Colleyville Heritage High School Spanish 1 and 2 Pre-AP Teaching experience: 2.5 years TwitterMore about me:
I am a Fort Worth native, and I teach in the DFW area not too far from where I grew up. My husband and I have 2 precious rescue "kittens" (both are almost 3 now) named Pepper and Thunder. I began learning Spanish informally in elementary school and then began formally in 7th grade and continued through all 5 years. In college, I studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain. Attending TELL Collab for the first time in 2016 was such an incredible experience - the connections I made have provided ongoing PLC through Twitter! I am very interested in standards-based learning/grading and am in the early process of implementation. -

World Languages Coordinator Austin Independent School District K-12 Teaching experience: 8 yearsMore about me:
Bonjour! I was born and raised in southern Louisiana and am a Cajun through and through. I grew up speaking French both at home and in an immersion program. As an immersion student, I was afforded many amazing opportunities, the most important of which was being part of a movement to preserve the Cajun culture and use of French in Louisiana. I have a B.A. in French Studies from Louisiana State University, where I was a member of the Golden Band from Tigerland--GEAUX TIGERS! I have an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas at Austin, and completed my administrative work through Stephen F. Austin State University. I've taught a variety of subjects in public, charter, and private schools. My favorite subject, of course, is French because it combines so many of my passions: culture, history, and mathematical thinking. -

Japanese Instructor, WL Department Chair James Madison High School, North East ISD, San Antonio, TX Japanese 1 - Japanese 4 AP Teaching experience: 10 years TwitterMore about me:
I teach Japanese at a large, public urban high school in South Texas. I love using Twitter and the power of the #langchat online community to broaden my horizons and expand my PLN. I proudly joined the #langchat team as a co-moderator in early 2015, and I'm always excited to work with other WL teachers locally and globally to improve my craft and contribute to the rich collaboration happening in our field. In my classroom laboratory, I am exploring how to: deliver comprehensible input from engaging authentic resources; deepen my toolbox of input strategies; build students' literacy in a different-script language; measure that all students are participating in and comprehending instruction; and increase my effective use of TL in the classroom. -

Therefore, I truly can NOT wait to see everyone for a third meet-up in Austin! Meaningful, relevant professional development has become one of the aspects I treasure most in this crazy career of ours. See you all soon! -
